Re: ANNOUNCING: 2006 All-Rookie Meet & Greet
We are again supporting "Operation Paperback" at this year's All-Rookie Meet & Greet event (Friday at 11:30 on the outside mall).
Operation paperback ( www.operationpaperback.org) is a really great organization that gets groups to collect used paperback books to then be sent-off to the troops overseas.
Last year, team 1511 collected in excess of 100lb. worth of paperback books at the FIRST championships in Atlanta. I estimated that we collected about 300 books last year. So....bring more books to the ARMAG event or to the team 1511 pit area this year!
In total, Operation Paperback has shipped more than 400,000 books to soldiers overseas. many of their operating bases have ZERO stuff to read, so this is a big thing for the troops to get some Tom Clancy-type books to read.
