Did he just say that?
During his speech presenting the 2006 Woody Flowers Award this afternoon, I heard Dr. William Murphy say this:
"FIRST was created to give you, the students, an opportunity to interfere with the engineering profession in a constructive way."
Maybe Dr. Murphy intended to say "interact" or "interface". But on further reflection, I think he may have been speaking figuratively -- we geeks know that constructive interference (think waves reflecting off the edges of a tank) is a good thing.
