I was wondering how our animation made it to Nationals as well, as we did not win the animation prize at the San Jose Regional. In fact, we didn't even realize we were in the running for the National competition. Apparently, Regional animations are student and peer judged. Professional judges have the option of sending animations they feel are worthy of recognition on to nationals, even if the animation was not recognized at Regionals. This was the case with our animation, and probably team 234's animation as well.
