Re: Are Engineering Societies Contributerss?

Members of the IEEE are individual engineers. The IEEE is an organization similar to FIRST, it exists to promote the engineering profession.

In a way they are similar organizations, so it would be odd for one to be funding the other.

One could equally ask if FIRST teams are supporting the IEEE? They are not a company or business, they have no source of income except members dues and donations. Im certain there are hundreds of engineers who are members of their associated engineering societies, but I cant think of a reason why a local area chapter would be the sponsor of a team?
