Re: Sony E3 conference

The fact of the matter is, Sony has been ripping off other people's tech for a good long while now, and it probably wouldn't be this way had it not been for Nintendo stabbing them in the back.

Back in the Super Nintendo days, Nintendo was going to make a Compact Disc attachment to the SNES in order to give it some new functionality, etc. etc. So, they were torn between Sony and Phillips to make this new CD attachment. Sony was confident that Nintendo would pick them, and they even had an unofficial agreement. But, come CES time (E3 was a dream then), Nintendo announced that Phillips would be the one to manufacture it.

In the end, Phillips never came through, and the big N never got it's attachment. If you look at a SNES, on the bottom is the little port that would fit it.

Phillips and Sony went on to make their own forays into the gaming market. Phillips came out with the notorious CD-I system (famous for being a huge technological and marketing disappointment.)

What did Sony come out with? Badabingbadaboom, you have the Sony Playstation in 1995.

But let's look at it this way, the PS3. WOW! No actual game footage. Just CGI movies. WOW! A complete and utter ripoff of the Wii and X360 controllers! WOW! A complete and total ripoff of the Xbox Live architecture! Isn't that so innovative? Not.

That's about my two cents of it, take it or leave it.
