Re: What are your Team Colors??

As a corporate marketing guy, I'd make the following suggestions to any team (especially rookies) as you develop your "identity" over the years:

1) Picking a team color that leverages your school colors is a good idea. Picking a team color that also leverages the colors of your main sponsor is also good if you plan to have that same sponsor for many years.

2) be sure that your color scheme, logo, etc doesn't violate any rules of "corporate identity" as defined by your school or sponsoring corporation.

3) make sure that your team name and logo can stand-out on whatever color scheme you choose. If the background is multi-colored (e.g camo or tie-died), then consider a white-out frame around the name/logo

4) The team name and number (obviously) must not change from year to year, so pick a name that you, your school, and the sponsors in your area can live with. Pick a name that sounds good when iterated by the MCs during the events.

5) Team colors also should stand-out in a dimly-lit event venue and/or in your school hallways. It's OK to have multiple teams with similar (or almost identical) attire....lots of "pink" htis year as well as camo on multiple teams.

Our story???? School colors are red & black.....corporate sponsor's colors are red & black......weird.......our corporate sponsor is a government/militray supplier of communications products, so we started wearing a special red/black version of camouflage that has now become our pervasive "identity"........so much so that we won the 2006 Imagery award at the Boston regional.
