We heard that several times from non-New Yorkers. "Try not to look like a tourist." We actually had our best moments when we were very tourist-looking. Like riding the subway...The locals were very friendly and helpful in providing directions and advice on the best ways to get somewhere and their favorite places to eat. NYC recently received the title of the "Friendliest City." To me, that reputation was honestly given. So tell the Tall Texan to stop and look up while walking along Fifth Avenue, 'cause it's a sight like no other! And a local may just stop and identify all the buildings for you!
