My opinion...I'm not trying to start a flame war, nor am I going off on Bill. Don't take it the wrong way, please.
That is one sense of off-roading. However, in another sense, is the challenge of maneuvering your vehicle through, across, over, under, (and somtimes rolled

) across all kinds of terrain. Sure you would be able to make it farther more easily, but would Tellico or Paragon Adventure Park be as fun if you can run all the trails in half a day? I like having to figure out the best approach across a bed of rocks, or making it halfway through a trail and breaking your track-bar and having your power steering pump get pulled out of the frame. (not really fun, but hey, its part of off-roading).
