[WRRF]: Cal Games 2006 Registration Info

Cal Games 2006 Registration Info
Pioneer High School, October 28

WRRF and Northern California Teams

The planning committee is implementing a NEW Registration process. Please pay close attention to the registration deadlines, or you may miss your chance to reserve a spot for Cal Games 2006.

Due to the dramatic increase of number of teams in Northern California, a number of changes will be implemented in this year's registration process, including a Tiered registration system on a first-come-first-served basis, with a $500 registration fee plus a $100 support fee. Thus, to secure a spot in Cal Games, each team must send a check for $600 (or two checks, one for $500 and one for $100).

$500 registration fee: The registration fee has been increased from previous years due to the potential expense of modifying a field from NASA and the need to develop a financially sustainable WRRF organization.

Tiered system: From July 12th to September 1st, tier 1 teams (local Bay Area teams and previous WRRF teams) are eligible to register for Cal Games 2006. After that, the event will be open to Tier 2 teams (and continue for Tier 1 teams), that is, teams all across Northern California and second robots from any team, starting September 2nd until September 15th. Note: the event will be canceled unless we have enough teams by September 2nd and registration fees will be refunded.

First-come-first-served: Send your registration form and checks made out to WRRF to Phyllis Schmit. For the address, please contact Phyllis @ ps_schmit@yahoo.com.

Any conflicts on check arrival timing will be resolved using the envelope's postmark date and time.

Completing your registration: To compete at Cal Games 2006 in October, all teams must complete a registration questionnaire between October 1st and 23rd beyond the basic information in the registration form below. In addition, a liability waiver for the San Jose Unified School District and for WRRF will need to be completed by every team member attending, similar to that done for any FIRST competition.

$100 support fee: The support fee will be refunded after Cal Games 2006 if your team provides a significant amount of volunteer time at the event. The set-up and take-down activities take a lot of willing bodies and history tells us, in particular, after the game, the clean-up crew is sparse. So, plan to get the $100 back for your club by volunteering that day. Our goal is to return the $100 to everybody with enough willing bodies from each team. More details will follow.
