you will need more than a microphone (the robot controller does not have any inputs that would accept a microphone signal).

You would need to filter the audio signal, and convert it to something like a varying DC level signal, proportional to the level of the 3 or 4kHz sound.

How sensitive it needs to be, what other audio sounds will be present, the type of output (analog or digital....) would all be defined by your intended application, as Al inidicated.

What is the problem / requirement that this sensor is intended to solve?
