Re: 1065 Promo Video

Very Good Michelle, glad to see more teams in the area making promo videos.

General tips when making videos

like Sean said, know your audience that will be viewing the video before making it. There are a few different types

Wrap up Video for own team/chiefdelphiers - little explanation of FIRST needed, the audience already knows. Fast paced music with lots of quick clips of highlights. This is where your video did great in, especially when combining with pictures. The main purpose you may want to stress are pictures of people instead of parts of the robot, you mostly did well here too.

Many of the videos were great, but could use a little more editing, show the best parts of each, don't start them too early or end late. Remember music can be edited as well to fit your video better. Wildstangs 2004 encore video is a great example to putting your video to music.

Recruitment videos
- Very similar, but a further explanation of what FIRST is. When people first join robotics, they want to see battlebots, give them the video of defensive play just to satisfy the bloodlust for the moment, show and explain the high energy sportlike competitions.

Parents - Include scholarship opportunities, working with engineers, and hands on experience.

Sponsors- Don't forget close up shots of the robot and T-shirts with other sponsors on them! mention travel and how many people/teams/other companies will be at those competitions.

Administration/school board - Again, scholarship opportunities, other schools that participate, travel opportunity, real world experience, and most importantly how it can improve test scores and inspire math, science, and technology in students. for Florida, mention how it can improve the FCAT

Now to be nitpicky, I love how you ended the video, but instead of a black background, you could have been doing that with the pictures in the background. Just a suggestion. Windows Movie Maker, is not the best of programs, but it isn't horrible either as long as your video isn't over 2 minutes. you may want to invest in a higher power amateur movie editing software. Good luck!
