FIRST in the Southern Tier

Some of you may remember that I've been trying hard to have a FIRST team created in Owego, NY between Lockheed Martin and our local high school. Since I like to keep the people here informed of whats been going on, I figured it was time I posted.

FIRST Owego is dead.
We have no money, the teachers have dropped out, and interested has disappeared. What was suppose to be a final planning meeting tomorrow followed by a all team gear up meeting has been cancelled. I tell ya, bad moral under a time crunch is the ultimate killer and I did my best to prevent it from happening. The only silver lining is that the $2,000 Lockheed gave us *should* be able to follow me to Chuck for this season. At this point though, I'll only believe it when the check is in my hand.

On a positive note: A teacher at Waverly High School told me that the school is interested in joining FIRST. She has also shown me something that I haven't seen since starting this little quest: passion. So, I am now going to focus my efforts during the preseason to helping them ether become a rookie team or joining Chuck (which is literally 10 mins away).

Here's hoping some good eventually comes out of all this work.
