Diesel in northern Virginia used to be cheaper than regular gasoline. At some point in the past two years or so, diesel switched to a low sulfur formula that caused the price to jump above the cost of premium gasoline. American gas, pretax, is some of the most expensive in the world, but it is also some of the cleanest burning gas in the world.
Environmentalism can be expensive, but the alternative could be much more costly.
