During Dave Lavery's trip to Antarctica, he suffered from severe frostbite and required extensive constructive surgery. The doctors were overheard saying, "Dave Lavery, FIRST Mentor extraordinaire. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first robotic man. Dave Lavery will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. And we're sure he won't mind if he resembles his other car on Mars."
