Every team's Programming Group should probably download this to their CPU doc area and review it, so you're all aware of the software vacancies of this die. It may strongly assist you in debugging code, when things don't seem to work as "advertised".

I hope this helps!

I use the 18F series processors to run many machines around where I work, and have found them very stable.

The 8722 HPC does have some issues, especially with the ECCP/CCP peripherals, the RETFIE FAST command and some shake on the 10bit ADC peripheral. However the FAE for Microchip came out to my work and he verified along with me that the problems i had were real silicon problems. THE 8722 DIE IS BEING RECUT THIS WINTER. The FIRST controllers for next season *should* have the fixed and updated processor by then.

Also, there are workarounds for all problems I've found so far. If anyone has problems with the capture/compare peripherals I can give you some workaround hints. The ADC instability can be overcome with some simple code, and the RETFIE FAST problem can be solved by simply using the low priority interrupt vector instead of the high.

Well... plus the fact that I'm sitting on about 15 PICdem HPC Explorer boards might have something to do with me trying so hard to make them work...
