Re: What can make a FIRST team a "renowned" FIRST team

Alot of it has to do with continued visability and success. Outside of the the frequent attendees of the VCU regional, most teams wouldn't give 388 or 510 a second glance, but they are amognst the strongest and most visable teams year in and year out at VCU, and thus have quite a reputation within the VirginiaFIRST community. The same can be said on a larger scale for teams like 71, 111, 233, 254, and many others. They are ALWAYS contenders at every event they attend, and frequently emerge with victories. Each has a large cheering section, unforgettable (in both appearance and ability) robots, and numerous other factors that allow them to become "renowned". All 4 of the teams I mentioned have also won 2 Regional Chairman's awards (111 and 254 have also won the Championship CA), 4+ regionals (12 in the case of 254), and 71 and 111 have won the Championship event (71 has 4 times). Even when these teams have "off-years" (which pretty much never happens) they can still push deep into the elimination round at almost any event. Not to mention 233 and 111 have very unique and distinctive team uniforms, that really stand out from the sea of black, blues, and reds.
