Exxon sponsors Team 57 (formerly the Tigers, even) and a few other teams. They also give money to the Lone Star Regional, if I'm not mistaken.

Your mistake would be thinking:
A. $42 million worldwide == $42 million in the US, and
B. Exxon thinks giving a large amount of cash to support a relatively small number of students is always a great idea.

We work very hard to spend our money wisely and reach the most students that we can so Exxon will know their money is helping a many students. Don't assume they're an easy target because they're wanting to spend more on education. Anyone approaching them should be well prepared to discuss budgets and exactly how, which, and how many students. I would, in fact, suggest as formal a proposal as you can manage, every year you expect funding from them, along with a detailed report at the end of the season.
