I was doing this exact thing tonight with a windows ME machine. **shudders**
There's a great program,
Everest Home Edition, that will tell you what hardware is in the PC it's running on. You can get all the specs, then go download the appropriate drivers for it.
It will tell you what the hardware is even if windows doesn't recognize it yet.
