I think my contract with Verizon runs up about a year after the iPhone is slated to be released. I don't like Verizon because they are still using CDMA phones, which makes it much harder to switch between phones on a whim.

What worries me most about the iPhone is not the expense of the phone but the expense of the plan. An unlimited data plan is more expensive than it should be from most carriers, and they better not charge you $.10 per text message on top of that. If you're fronting $600 to get the phone in the first place, an additional $70/mo in cell service & data plan is really going to hurt.

And even though Jobs called this "the new iPod", it can't be the only new iPod they are going to come out with. I expect to see something that looks a lot like the iPhone except without wireless and cell service come out before the end of the calendar year. A multi-touch user interface and big-screen video playing are just too good to restrict to the smartphone market.
