The way I kind of see it is if a player goes, the teams go back into the pool. After all, if this were the Montreal Expos folding (thank goodness that didn't happen, sorry to tick off any people on 296) the players would have to find work somewhere else. But if the player stays; the team is offlimits. If the player comes back later and draft, the teams are offlimits.
