As far as the 7075 and 7068 go, we are doing some sort of surface treatment. Which one has yet to be determined. Hard anodizing wouldn't work for us though, as it would add thickness to the gear teeth... no fun. As I mentioned earlier, 7068 is already some pretty hard stuff, so we'll see.
Ah -- we get 24x48" sheets of 1/2" thick delrin a lot of the time. That can become absurdly expensive. We like it because we can laser cut it quickly and precisely, so it's a good way of making intricate, moving parts. I don't think I'd have ever considered using it for a transmission plate, though, so I'm really interested in seeing how it works for you.
