As long as the cylinder is one of the ones on the list, it doesn't matter if you move it both ways or not.

There are cylinders available with a built in spring return. These are NOT legal, but some times teams use them by mistake. I caught one at the Championship last year. The team had to find a new cylinder and redo their tubing a little but it wasn't that hard to fix. The hard part was finding a supplier as this was discovered late afternoon on Thursday.

Moral of the story, be sure you look closely at the list of cylinders in the manual and do not order anything not on the list and GET INSPECTED EARLY!
