We are using the Gen2 AM shifter but with cylinders. The retaining clips are for the small CIM motor. After you put the gear on there, you use the retaining clip, so the gear doesn't fall out. Also, it will be helpful if you place three washers for each small cim motor before placing the gear there (those washers were supplied in KOP transmission previous years). As far as the "one washer" goes, I am not sure where that goes. The best person to ask would be Andy. Since he is very busy at this point, I would suggest you to send a PM to him.
