You can buy the exact right tapes from McMaster Carr, the part numbers are listed on the VexLabs website under field construction. Additionally you're going to want to have the sensors calibrate when the robot is on the field. That is, even if you find what the sensor value is on one field, at a different field the value can be different. This is because of different light levels and types.
