Inventor has had a lot of problems on Vista for some people. Inventor on Vista doesn't have support from Autodesk yet.

I don't know about Darwine, but I've read that people successfully run Inventor using Bootcamp. A quick look at the Wikipedia entry on Darwine makes me think it wouldn't work:
