Well thank you. The idea actually came while we were thinking of new and innovative ways to spead the word of FIRST to new audiences. We found out that the wort
robot comes from the Chechoslovakian (?) word for slave: roboto (or something to that extent. someone please correct me if i'm mistaken). The word was first used in Karl Chapek's play
Rossum's Universal Robots, or RUR for short. We decided to make an adaption of that play, abridging it and tweaking the ending. I dont want to give away what happens, so you'll all have to watch and see!
As for the audience, we had a great turn-out. And no, this was not originally intended to be a fund-raiser. Its purpose was to do something fun and creative to get people from all walks of life interested in robotics.
