**FIRST EMAIL**/Scholarship Updates

Greetings Teams:

FIRST Scholarship Changes to Note:

Kettering University has extended their application deadline to March 15.

The University of Central Florida has discovered a misprint in the amount listed in their scholarship description. The website listing has now been corrected. Please note that their in-state award is for $2,400 and the out-of-state award is for $6,800. Their deadline is March 20.

All: If the FIRST Regional Event that your team attends has a Scholarship Row (display tables by colleges that offer FIRST Scholarships), be sure to visit and talk to the college representatives. They can answer all kinds of questions, about their school and about college in general. And please be sure to graciously thank them for offering a FIRST Scholarship. Scholarship Row is also a great place for parents and mentors to visit.

Seniors: Have you applied for a scholarship yet? Some of the application deadlines have already passed, but there are still FIRST scholarships from over 30 schools still available. But don’t delay! Some of them are due by mid March. If you know what school you will be attending, and it doesn’t offer a FIRST Scholarship, consider applying for the Raytheon Company scholarship. This scholarship can be used at any college to study math, science, or technology.

Juniors: There are two scholarships still available to juniors this year: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Colorado State University – Pueblo. Also, now is a good time to be planning what scholarships you will apply for as a senior. Be sure to pay attention to deadline dates!

Sophomores: Although it may feel too early to start thinking about college, this is the time to start doing some research and planning for next year. And be sure to check out the FIRST scholarships that are available for juniors, especially those available only to juniors (Drexel University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).

For details on all scholarships, check out the FIRST website Scholarship page: www.usfirst.org/scholarships

Go Teams!

"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value."
-- Thomas Paine

If it's falling apart it's a mechanical problem. If it's spewing smoke it's a electrical problem.
If it's rampaging around destroying things it's a programming problem.

"All technology is run on 'Magic Smoke' contained within the device. As everyone knows, whenever the magic smoke is released, the device ceases to function."
