There is a difference between obsessively "lawyering" the existing rules that have been provided to all FIRST teams, and respectfully challenging someone that has created a new rule on the spot and expects everyone at an event to respond. .... As the lead inspector explained it to me, this exact interpretation was specifically passed down to him from FIRST; he was very nice about it, he didn't say that he agreed or disagreed with it, and I certainly didn't get the impression that he made it up himself. Hopefully it was just a miscommunication.
