Very cool. You can make your sponsors' logos, frame them, and give them as gifts!
I wrote a program that did this once. Works best with 1,000+ images. It's also possible to alter the colors so slightly that you don't notice it in the small pics, but it makes the large pics look better.
The guy who invented this, Robert Silvers, was a graduate of the MIT Media Lab. He's got a patent on the whole concept, not just his application, something that amazed me considering the number of (free) third-party programs that do it now. His company's website says that they "protect these rights vigilantly." Of course, there is also the clause that "an endeavor...solely for amusement, to satisfy idle curiosity, or for strictly philosophical inquiry" is exempt from patent infringement law.
