Earth Science Career Night for High School Students at JPL on April 5, 2007

Earth Science Career Night for High School Students at JPL on April 5, 2007

**Not related to Yuri's Night**

Topic: "What is Climate Change?"

Media coverage on global warming and its implications has been
extensive. But what does it all mean? What is really happening? What
is Climate Change? JPL has been building instruments to study planets
including our own Planet Earth. From the unique vantage point of
Space, JPL/NASA has been contributing to the study of our home and
providing the data records to measure what the changes are. Find out
how mankind is seeing the global scale changes of our planet.

JPLs Education Office and Earth Science Public Engagement Office are
inviting high school students to learn about some of the facts about
climate change, the satellite technology that enable our studies, and
the field of earth science as a viable career option to consider.

Students in grades 9 through 12 are encouraged to attend with their
parents. While students are involved with JPL Earth Scientists in
interactive demonstrations and a group project, parents will attend a
90-minute talk by Richard Bischoff, director of admissions at Caltech.
Mr. Bischoff will discuss how parents can assist their children in
identifying their college interests and translating them into academic
goals.

The event will take place on

Thursday, April 5, 2007 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM
in JPL's von Karman Auditorium

We are inviting JPL families and friends and the communities in which
their children attend school. Due to limited space, email registration
is required and seats are available on a first-come, first-served
basis.

Career Night registration starts on Friday, March 23, 2007.
E-mail confirmations will be sent by Friday, March 30, 2007, 11:00 am.

To register, students need to fill out the registration form below
and email it to pkneissl@jpl.nasa.gov .

Please note: We will only be able to accommodate people who have
received an e-mail confirmation from our office.
