My thanks and congratulations to:
Teams 1203 Pandemonium and 1688 Stick Shift our alliance members for a great run ending in silver and some really exciting moments put up by 270, 527, & 1606 in the Quarterfinals as well as 287, 533, & 1537 in the Semi’s.
And of course the Finals where we were sent packing by:
234 - so many members volunteered at SBPLI and they gave our kids the opportunity to learn how to be good hosts. We hope to make it out to IRI sometime Chris, but this summer I'll be in New Mexico with another youth group.
229 - had great spirit and as a Scot I admire any man in a kilt.
545 - For great ramp-aging and for bringing home one of the winners’ trophies for Long Island.
The referees, led by Jim Stephenson, made some really tough, fair calls. I missed seeing Denise in stripes, though
I have to thank so many teams for assistance we received from our “
family,” as Debbie from 564 likes to call it, especially,
271 Bayshore - for their machining help, and pressing BaneBot pinions on Fisher Price motors.
514 Miller Place - for their machining help and for constantly trading the mini-BaneBot transmissions back and forth. I’ve lost track of who’s using the 64:1 and who’s using the 125:1...
There were parts of both of these great teams in the Finals.
Congratulations to our Chairman's Award Winners, Team 1601 Quantum Samurai. Very well deserved. (We'll get that teleconferencing working!)
Finally, I really enjoying working with so many students and teams. I know it was under duress and pressure to get out on the field, but everybody was working by the end. I hope you all took home some great memories, ideas from other robots, and spirit from other teams to inspire you.
