Re: Dream Job

Team 675, Hailing from Rohnert Park, California. We're the only team in the northern bay area.

Career path: Tossup between automotive technician/mechanic and Engineer (but I am leaning towards going to UC Davis for a Mechanical Engineering Major, the other option would be UTI Phoenix or UTI Sacramento for my ASE and other certifications)

How FIRST is helping:

Auto Tech/Mechanic:
Teaching me to work with my hands, to find and solve mechanical issues, and teaching me to use some pretty cool tools (like our team's precision mill, woot)

Engineer:
Teaching me to think critically, to try and find weak points or flaws that could be fixed, all while trying to keep something within a target weight and also with certain components (kind of like how one of 675's grabbers, the one that I designed, was pneumatically actuated, even though we have no pump or tanks, we ended up using a servo-powered gripper then taking our arm off at SVR) and resrtictions.

Any profession:
Teaching me to be safe, to think about what I'm doing and what I'm doing it with, and teaching me just how much I can achieve in 6 weeks.
