I expected a little more maturity out of you guys, not a witch hunt because someone did something you don't personally agree with.

I also agree with Kelli and Matt's points. It's up to the owner to make decisions about their private property.

The only thing anyone should be making a profit from it for is to help get people excited in seeing what robots can do and where they are going. Anyone trying to sell them off are not true FIRSTers. Whoever did this should be ashamed of themselves.

What a sweeping statement!
Who is to say that "using it for profit" is not for good? The owner obviously feels that it would do "more good" by being in the hands of someone else. The person who buys it may end up just as excited by robots as someone who had it given to them for free. In my opinion, keeping an item you do not want is MORE WASTEFUL than selling it to someone who does.
Please do not accuse someone of "not being a true FIRSTer" for doing something which is
not unethical (and arguably beneficial).
What it means to be "in the spirit of FIRST" is open for debate and interpretation. FIRSTers shouldn't "kick people out of the club" because they have a different perspective.
FIRST is not a clique.
