There's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said by Josh and Leslie. You shouldn't let ANYTHING that ANYONE says about your bot discourage you. Simple design is the hallmark of good engineering, and working within your bounds to produce a robot that does one thing excellently is a far greater achievement than overextending your current abilities and making a bot that does many things very poorly.
