With 144 you have to define "out of existence" very closely. Team 1038 has the same mentors and same sponsor as Team 144 did from their 1994-1998 team with Walnut Hills HS, and the 1999-2002 team at Northwest HS. We have migrated to our third new school now -Lakota East and Butler Tech- hence the new team #. So Team #144 has only shifted identity slightly since 1994. We like to think we still exist...
