I've heard 254/968/4 say the same thing - that it helps them replace wheels. But how often do you have to replace your wheels ? Its not a problem I've ever experienced.

I do agree that cantilevered wheels will definitely help with stability. And using bumpers is an easy way to protect the wheels.
