that guy did have a point
There are three things to consider when calculating the value of a phone:
1. Up front cost
2. Cost of service plan
3. Resale value
Most phones are lucky to be worth anything after two years. However, apple products such as iPods (which are doing well in the music player market) retain most of that value.
Don't judge the iPhone until you've actually used one (for more than 30 seconds, I hope). It's a great peice of techmology.
