I have to agree with Nate, the idea of having the winning alliance compete against each other one-on-one doesn't make much sense to me.

The winning alliance will be the one with the most complimentary attributes and the best strategy and teamwork. Having the two compete against each other strips them of the strengths that got them there.

I don't have a problem with each team on the winning alliance going home claiming to be the champions, just like ever member of a winning sports team is a champion. In my oppinion, if your team builds a robot that earns a spot in the finals, either through racking up qualifying points or having a functionality or strategy appealing to the team that did, you both deserve the title.

: Also, both teams have their own sort of honor that only the alliance
: format can bring. For the team that actually qualified for the elim
: rounds, they have the glory of being the best of the best...and for
: their ally, they go home knowing that their machine was well enough
: designed to be selected for the elimination rounds, even if they didn't
: do so well themselves(Delphi/Kokomo being picked in Chicago comes to
: mind)...

: And of course, they both bring home the monster trophy...

: Just my two cents on the whole thing...

: Nate
