By your team number, i'm guessing you're a rookie. Welcome to FIRST! We just finished our first year so I know where you are coming from. I will give you some advice i received from a veteran team: As a first year team, use the stock frame and drive train given to you in the KOP. It's not very sexy, but insures you have a moving robot come regionals. It also allows you to spend more time working on your game mechanism. take a look at the drive train we built during our rookie year. It was very reliable. We did some upgrading during the summer.
