I'm sold! The arena venue for competitions is soooo much better than the stage.
About half the Florida teams met at the Florida International University Arena Fri. & Sat. for
the first Florida State teams' invitational. It was a blast and the Miami teams, especially Nola Garcia from Team 59, did a fantastic job getting it all arranged.
Friday was all sorts of different games - grudge matches, challenges, one-on-ones, all-girl match, all engineer match, human player floppy toss contest. On Saturday we had standard alliance matches. THEN we had a one-on-one, best in the state contest. Each team used two human players. Cordis took first place. We earned second. HeatWave finished third.
At times it was almost 'Rock 'em, Sock 'em Robots' but except for a couple of warnings, everyone stayed within the rules, even if it only by a hair.
Arenas and more invitationals/post-season competitions - putting those on my Christmas list early!
