The final gear on the output shaft(?) is the problem. In the elimination rounds we were only getting a few matches out of a gear. We came up with a replacment rim made out of aluminum that fit into the case without modification. After cleaning out the gob of grease from inside the case there was no increase in weight.

BTW, Joe won't believe this, but there are two different motor pinions and gear cases available. One has 16 teeth on motor pinion, other has 19. If you want your kid to have the hotest FP car on the block, make sure you get the high speed pinion
