How is this for a 'real' problem. Marine debris, trash in the water, junk in the rivers and lakes is a serious problem. Most people don't know about it because it is out of sight, out of mind. Last year volunteers pulled out over 2,200 tires from the Potomac river basin. It got us to thinking, if FIRST students can pick up things about the size of a tire (rack and roll), how about a real tire!!

So in the off season we are working on a robot, actually two robots to be used to collect marine debris. There are a couple of articles about it on our website at http://www.kellrobotics.org

This is a tough project but as Woodie said recently at the kickoff it is supposed to be hard.

Anyone want to help out ? collaborative design ? what say you ? It will be something to work on during the off season !!
