It still power slides on the carpet, but not quite as well as on the wooden floors. It's a bit hard to control, actually, so we'll probably be trying to find some way to better manage cornering.

Thanks. It moves between 12-14 ft/sec. with no weight on it. It'll slow down as we continue to pile things on top. It's been great having something for folks to play with for a while now, though.

They're cheaper than comparable transmissions -- custom or otherwise -- and they're much easier to assemble than a custom transmission of any stripe. They're also smaller and lighter than almost anything else out there.
We saved machine time, money, and weight by using these and, for our pains, get three-speeds and reliability for almost no development time. We made a handful of minor changes -- mostly to how we mounted the transmissions and how we attached the CIM pinion -- but using these was almost a no-brainer once I'd started looking into them seriously.
