Nope - I do not believe that the battery is required
to be mounted right side up. Just make sure you can
remove it quickly!

However, I seem to remember reading somewhere in the
Competition Manual that says that the battery must be
charged right side up (I can't locate the exact place right now). But this is good practice anyway.
