I do have to agree with you that looks do count!
But then again, what about 'form, fit, and function'?

But seriously, looks are important to 'non-FIRST' people; however, the machines all look interesting and inviting, regardless of if you know what they are.

But more importantly in trying to increase the interest in FIRST of non-FIRST related people, is how they are treated by everyone (engineers, teachers, students) when they are looking around the pits and watching the matches.
