Ah... OK Quadrature is as it implies, a 4 state system. if you look at the diagrams from the Assembly instructions for the banebot assembly instructions page three shows the two signals in 90 degree phase shift. there are 4 possibilities. Low, Low... Low, High...High, Low... High, High
These are what I mean by states.
