It was never an 80 in circle, and it is not now an 80 in square. Edit: Mr. Norris beat me to it....

The rule limits the maximum horizontal dimension. This means that there are cases where the robot won't fit the circle or the square, but will satisfy the rule.

The talk of a cylinder came from an example in the rules which mistakenly gave the impression that fitting within an 80 in circle was a requirement. It has long since been clarified by FIRST.
