Students can download Autodesk Inventor 2008 Professional for free from http://engineersrule.org and register to use for 14 months. And by the time that license runs out the next release should be posted.

There is also information on routing wires in the Help>Skill Builders and additional information in a Routed Systems Getting Started pdf document on you hard drive in the Inventor directory. And there is curriculum material at the http://engineersrule.org site.

You might also check pg 16 & 17 in this document for technique to get wires to look more realistic
