No. For whatever reason, the backup battery is the only thing that can power a servo. Possibly because the servos are designed to work with a 7.2V or so battery.
In '05, 330 had a wedge on the back that was servo-dropped. That wedge didn't work if there wasn't a backup battery.
Plug the backup battery in. I think you'll find it works.
