Our machinist showed me a little trick...
He took a piece of steel, thin enough to fit between the pinion and the motor top, and cut a slot in it slightly wider than the shaft. He then slid this plate in, supported it on each side in an arbor press, and used a pin punch to press the motor out the bottom (catch it before it hits the floor!).
Works as well with a vice and a hammer, if need be.
We needed to press off both pinions, and reinstall the drill motor ones on another shaft.
